KT introduces smart working system in September 2010

KT lets their employees work at home. They announced that a smart working system will be introduced by KT next month. KT will build 9 flexible working centers in the Seoul metropolitan area within the year. The first center has already opened in Bundang, on the outskirts of Seoul, and the other 8 centers will be built soon.

The center enables employees to work smart since they can carry their laptop to do work. Working mothers, researchers and backup workers are allowed to work from home or the center. This remote office has teleconference rooms and spaces called "quiet rooms" which will be used for private duties. KT plans to increase the number of smart workers up to 30 percent of all employees by 2015.

Promoting a smart working system is not easy, but it could be the perfect solution for the Korean economy since the country is faced with a low birth rate, aging population and job-creation initiatives.

In the meantime, the Korean government stressed the importance of green growth, and will also begin promoting the smart working system by 2015.
