Isaac Asimov was an American author and considered to be a grand master of science fiction. He wrote many of his books about robots and he had a vision about the ways that they would interact with humans. In 1942, Asimov wrote the three laws of robots. The Three Laws of Robotics are as follows:
1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey any orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
Asimov wrote nearly 500 books before he passed away in 1992. He never saw the technological advancement in robotics that will be on display at the International Robot Industry Show 2010 - KINTEX, Ilsan, Seoul, October 28-31, 2010. This event will provide the opportunity to see just how close we have come to realizing the vision of a society where sophisticated robots are a part of our daily lives. Attendees will observe the current status and future trends of the global robot industry.
More than 120 companies with 500 display booths will participate in the show, which is sponsored by the Korea Association of Robot Industry (KAR). In attendance will be robot-related industry representatives, buyers and visitors from the general public. This show is the largest event in Korea to demonstrate and experience firsthand the current development and new technology in robots and the related industry. The show will have special events, such as the “International Robot Parts and component Fair”, the “Robot Stage”, the “Tele Presence Robot Biz-matching” and the “Robot Fun Zone”. These will enable participants to make the most of the “Robot World” show experience the field of robotics.
The "International Robot Parts and component Fair", sponsored mainly by the parts and component suppliers, will enable participating companies to have business opportunities by acquiring necessary parts and components under bargain price conditions.

The "Robot Stage” is the showcase for launching new robots, as well as promoting new technology by participating companies. Visitors will be able to directly experience various functions of the most advanced robots on the stage.
The "Tele Presence Robot Biz-matching” feature will allow remote buyers to have access to the show and directly communicate with the exhibitors.
The “Robot Fun Zone” will be the place to experience the boarding type or game type robot. Since this area will not only offer business prospects with the participating groups relating to arcade games, but will also give visitors the opportunity to become familiar with robots. It is expected to add fun and interests to attending the show.
As many other events and programs are being planned for visitors’ direct participation, this exhibition is expected to draw a lot of attention and input from visitors.
Korea's iRIS 2010 is recognized as the biggest exposition worldwide, particularly in the field of service robots, enough to garner participation in this show by many countries.
The Taiwan Exhibition Hall will be the first international display area in this show. As China and France are also in the process of positive review to open their own national exhibition halls, this show will act as an event representing world robot trends.
In addition, because it focuses on inviting foreign companies and buyers through strategic approaches by the member companies in SYROBO (French Robot Companies Association), Shenzhen Robot Association of China, Robotics Association Taiwan (ROBOAT), Japan Robot Association (JARA), etc, the business outcome is anticipated to surpass all previous levels.
As the robot industry is a cutting edge of environment-friendly green industry, the Korean government also gives full strategic support to meet the goal of being one of the world’s three major countries in the field of robots in 2013 and sponsors the international Robot World every year to foster robot industries as a future strategic sector. Therefore, it is our plan to establish a great opportunity for promoting and realizing robot business as a future driving force of our society, as many people are allowed to meet and experience the robots at this show.
