Smart Korea 2010 is being held while KES 2010 is ongoing in Ilsan at KINTEX. With the opening speech by Yoon Jong-yong, Chairman of the Korea Electronics Association, Smart Korea 2010 has just begun.
Soon, Kim Hwang sik, Prime Minister, who also made an appearance KES 2010. The Prime Minister honored 54 members of the IT industry for their significant contributions to the sector by presenting them with the man of merit award.
Prime Minister Kim said with great enthusiasm, "IT is the brand that leads Korea's economy and Korea's government will fully support the IT industry." He stressed the fact that the IT industry creates new value of industry by convergance with many other industries such as, automobile, shipping. Not to mention, it takes an important role in green growth."
He also commented, "In contrast with the world IT industry, which decreased by 6.5%, domestic IT industry in Korea grew 5.3% over the same period and 27 % increase in the first quarter of 2010."
He continued "Beside the economic benefits, the IT industry has been contributing to improving communication and cooperation, as well. As an example, a smart phone, this smart device, enables people to communicate instantly and consistently."
After the merit awards were presented, Chairman Yoon and Prime Minister Kim toured the exhibition, showing their interests in all the new trends of technologies.
