
Dr. Sabine Bernschneider-Reif, Director of Merck Corporate History, Merck KGaA in Germany, shares experiences and know-hows of 342 years at International Conference of information and archival studies held for the first time in Korea. The international conference is held for commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the Department of Information and Archival Studies at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies(HUFS) for the first time in Korea. It will be held in October 15-16 at Sky Lounge and Yekyung Hall of HUFS through simultaneous interpretation.
Corporations and government agencies produce records creating organization. For this reason, the records are serving as evidence of the functions from which they are created. Corporations are able to promote their reliability by information from records, to be used in order to describe organization's history and tradition. Purpose of this conference is to discuss how we might maximize the outcome from history marketing. Cases of organizations from outside of the country will be a mirror to reflect on the situation in Korea in terms of business and regional archives so that we can identify future approaches.
9 association institutes - Korean Society of Archival Studies, HUFS Center for Archival Studies, Institute of Global Business of HUFS Institute of Government&Governance of HUFS, Institute of Social Institute of Dankook University , Sogang Institute for Reguional and Cultural Studies - host the conference. Hak-joon Kim(Former President of Korean Society of Archival Studies), Peter Blum(Director of Heidelberg Municipal Archives), Uwe Wissenbach(Vice-Ambassador of EU to Korea), Byung-woo Ahn(President of Korean Society of Archival Studies), Meung-Hoan Noh(Director of HUFS World Folk Museum/Historical Archives) participate in conference. Dr. Sabine Bernschneider-Reif(Director of Merck Corporate History, Germany), Doh-Joon Yoon(President of Dong Wha Pharm), examples of archives from HSBC, Saint Gabain, Hana Bank, Shibusawa Ei'ichi Memorial Foundation of Japan will be shared at conference. Prof. Kelvin White(Oklahoma University, USA), Prof. Anne Gilliland(University of California Los Angeles(UCLA), USA) will share information as academic base. And Duk-muk Kim(The Academy of Korean Studies), Prof. Myoung-hun Kim(HUFS) will share the example of Songpa-Gu and Dongdaemun-Gu as experience and know-how.
