Korea has retained its No.1 world ranking in high-speed Internet.
Cisco, an American computer networking equipment company, said on October 18 that Korea attained the No.1 ranking two times in a row since last year in high-speed Internet quality among 72 countries.
The evaluation was implemented based on the speed of both downloading and uploading, in addition to the penetration rate. Korea's distribution rate of high-speed Internet has turned out to be 100%, and the downloading speed has become faster than last year by 55%.
The overall quality of high-speed Internet of 72 countries has increased by 24% from last year and 50% from 3 years ago.
According to the evaluation, total 14 countries, including Korea, Japan, Sweden, Hong Kong, Germany and Denmark, are qualified to introduce next-generation Internet equipment such as HD Internet TV and video communication.
These results are based on the analysis by Oxford University in the U.K and Oviedo University through May and June, with 40 million test data of 'Speedtest.net', that conducts a speed check of the Internet, and supported by Cicso.
