HHI announced on the 9th of April that it plans to work with LG Display to customize the fourth generation LCD hauling robot and will provide LG Display’s fourth LCD manufacturing line with 60 hauling robots in July.
HHI already produced about 250 hauling robots for fifth, sixth and eighth generation LCD manufacturing systems and won recognition in the field.
LCD hauling robots are easily damaged by fine dust in the operating process, thus they should be kept in a sanitized area which has fewer than 10 dust particles per cubic meter.
Jin Byung-ha, Director of HHI, said: “We expect a 20 billion won (US$ 15.2 million) import substitution effect from the stable localization of LCD hauling robots. We are also going to penetrate the foreign market deeper.”
The domestic LCD hauling robot market is a US$100 million industry with about 1,200 robots sold last year. HHI shares about 40 percent of the domestic robot market. In addition, the company occupies 7 percent of the global robot market and has delivered 20,000 robots to companies in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and China.
Last year, HHI dominated 30 percent of the related domestic market after it launched its LCD hauling robots.
