The announcement of the Bill sets to deliver better choice and services for broadband consumers. Telstra and NBN Co have reached an agreement, where necessary legislative framework is required to support the Agreement and give regulatory certainty to Telstra.
David Kennedy, Research Director, comments:
"The changes in the legislation seem designed to facilitate the Heads of Agreement already signed between Telstra and the NBN Co. We don't see any significant changes in the Government's position".
"Thodey's statement that the company accepts the legislation, particularly structural separation, suggests that Telstra has now extracted the best possible deal from the Government and the NBN Co. From now on, it will be focused on the implementation of the deal"
