Korea's largest exhibition for the small and medium business's products; 'G-FAIR 2010', had opened at Goyang's KINTEX on October 27.
Hosted and supervised by Gyeonggi-do, Gyeonggi Small and Medium Business Center, Korea Small & Medium Business Conference and funded by the Small and Medium Business Adminstration, KOTRA, Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business, Gyeonggi Federation of Economic Organizations, G-Fair will start off with it's opening ceremony and will showcase the newest devices, electronics, everyday goods, and idea products. This year makes it the 13th anniversary of the "G-Fair" since it had first started in 1999. In this year's exhibition 800 companies, 400 foreign buyers, 800 W-OKTAs, and several domestic buyers are to participate.
This year's display of consumer goods and idea products, which is the exhibition's main focus, had greatly increased, and new exhibition zones regarding hi-tech components and green industry has been added. As this year's exhibition was simultaneously opened with W-OKTA's '15th World Korean Industries Convention', it is expected to improve standards and open opportunities for overseas Koreans and small and medium sized business to consult trades, which will assist in pioneering overseas markets.
G-Fair 2010 will not only display top products from small and medium businesses, but it will also hold many events which will help foreign buyers and domestic corporations to interact, such as the "Export session with foreign buyers" "Large, small, and medium business purchase session", "Global Sourcing Plaza" which will promote outsourcing and corporate cooperation, and the 'World-OKTA export session" which will offer an opportunity for domestic corporations and the world-wide Korean traders to interact. In addition, there are many other events such as the "Overseas distribution market seminar" where domestic and foreign speakers specialized in overseas expansion will be speaking, Lee Guem Yong CEO of a successful venture will take the floor and share his knowledge in "Venture entrepreneur special", and a seminar to help youths to start their own enterprises.
Hwong Gi Hwa President of Gyeonggi Small and Medium Business Center said "Thanks to the great interest and participation of small and medium sized businesses the exhibition has grown 50% compared to last year. This year the participation of hard to meet major distribution company buyers will accelerate the chances of foreign buyers and small and medium sized businesses to interact."
The exhibition is composed of 249 booths of consumer products, 118 booths of idea products, 198 booths regarding electronics and hi-tech components, 73 booths involving well-known local products, 66 booths of green industry, and 170 booths regarding other subjects. At each company's booth an expert will be available for consulting, and at the joint patent consulting center, anyone can consult a patent agent for no cost.
Of the 7 different exhibition zones, the consumer product exhibit is perhaps the largest in G-Fair 2010. Many types of merchandise such as cosmetics, furniture, and even attire, possibly almost every item for everyday life were showcased at this exhibit.
Jinyoung Packaging's had one the most popular booths in this area. Jinyoung Packaging's main item was DIY furniture made of corrugated materials. They had a booth where spectators could try out the DIY furniture. DesignSkin's booth was another hot spot in this zone. DesignSkin's main products were furniture designed for children. The furniture is made of nontoxic PU and high quality artificial leather and is also designed to increase the space perception of the children.
There were also 2~3 companies displaying shower systems but Cebien's shower system stood out among them in both design and function. Cebien's top display was a wall mounting design shower and the LED shower system. Cebien has already been establishing a unique style and presence in the industry, and has won several prestigious international design awards.
Another must see exhibits were in the hi-tech components and electronics zone. The hi-tech components zone displayed products made by cutting edge technology and state-of-the-art materials. Some of the products, such as Segun's 'Signal Robots' was already put into use. Signal Robots will replace traffic safety agents in on road construction sites which will lower labor costs, and the safety of both the workers and drivers.
PNC Korea's special pearl printed decorative paper was also one of the main attractions of this zone. They displayed their product on several objects that are usually not used decorative paper, such as the guitar, MP3s, and even cellphones. PNC Korea had grafted acrylic components to LED resulting in both practicality and design. Aha Information and Communication's e-Learning System was the hub of the electronics zone.
Aha I&C is currently the only company in Korea that provides fundamental Digitizer Tablet technology. Their products consist of the Digital Touch board, Digital Power Lectern, and the Multi-vision, which when all put together becomes the e-Learning System. They claim that the e-learning system goes beyond the conventional learning experience and provides a cutting-edge, multimedia educational environment, allowing students to think creatively and innovatively.
The green industry zone was newly established this year.
Goodfeelkorea had released an Eco-friendly stationery set, which unlike the typical stationery set could be bio-degraded when it was discarded. Goodfeelkorea said that the interest in eco-products in general is increasing since US President Barack Obama's speech in Copenhagen.
The 'Can Power Green Cash Back' of Eco Project was also an interesting display. The Can Power Green Cash Back is a can pressing machine that presses cans and takes the phone numbers of the people who put cans into the machine. One pressed can is worthy of 10 Won contributed to charity. In the end of the year you receive a contribution receipt, and can claim your tax rebate. This is expected to stimulate recycling of cans.
INCA solution, another company at the green industry zone, is already known for their world class energy efficient products. INCA solution had developed the 'Green control Checktap' which one of the most innovative display in the green industry zone. The Checktap has powerful energy saving functions for PCs and computer peripheral devices. It provides monitoring function for the result of the saved energy, and associated money savings.
Several other companies had also set up booths and showcased their products at the G-Fair.
E-Bay also had a booth and gave gifts to new subscribers who signed up on the spot. Regions opened booths and sold their well-known local products such as wine, red ginseng, and flour. There were also innovations at the idea product zone, such as the outdoor portable puzzle bed, LED Sign boards and many more.
G-Fair 2010 is expected to open up opportunities for domestic and foreign buyers and even for the spectators as it meets the diverse needs of the spectators and showcases a variety of interesting products that can be used in the industry and everyday life. Many starting and venture corporations planning to expand both domestic and overseas, are participating and displaying new materials and products at the G-Fair, so it would be a good chance to seek new materials or cooperative business.
