World Leaders Landing on Korean Soil

A day before the G20 summit, world leaders and representatives of international organizations from all corners of the world are filtering into Korea one after another.

Following the arrival of the special guest, the Malawi President, the leaders of 11 other countries including the President of the United States, Barack Obama are checking in today.

Malawi President, Bingu wa Mutharika, arrived at Incheon airport yesterday. Malawi is not a chair among the G20 countries, but they have been invited as the African Union presidency.

A day before the G20 Summit, 11 world leaders including President of United States, Barak Obama; President of Russia, Dmitriy Medvedev; and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, David Cameron will arrive.

Among the international organizations, Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations; Angel Gurria, Secretary-General of the OECD; and Dominique Strauss-Kahn, Managing Director of the IMF (International Monetary Fund) will visit Korea today.

Tomorrow, other leaders including Angela Merkel, Prime Minister of Germany; Hu Jintao, President of China; Naoto Kan, Prime Minister of Japan; and Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, President of Brazil will come to Korea.

In addition, Brazil's President-elect Dilma Rousseff will also attend the G20 Summit with the President of Brazil Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

On the beging day of the G20 Summit, representatives of international organizations including Robert B. Zoellick, President of World Bank Group President and Pascal Lamy, Director-General of the WTO will be expected to arrive.

The President of France, Nicolas Sarkozy, who will hold the esteemed position of being the next president for the G20 Summit will arrive at dawn on the 12th as the last arrival among the leaders.

The leaders from 25 countries will meet again in five months after the G20 Summit in Toronto at the end of June; their days are expected to be packed with the itinerary of the G20 Summit as well as private meetings.
