The movement to support the underdeveloped country development as one of the key topics of "Korea initiative" that will be discussed at the Seoul G20 Summit Conference is being realized in the agricultural area.
According to the Department of Financial Planning and the Department of Agricultural Marine Food Products, the underdeveloped countries, such as Cambodia, Vietnam, Miyanmar, or Africa are showing visual accomplishments in the agricultural areas as a part of the Development Experience Sharing Project, such as farming support and the technology transfers.
The government has launched the "Asia Agricultural Food Technology Cooperation Initiative" with 12 Asian countries and the "Korea Africa Agricultural Food Technology Cooperation Initiative" with 16 countries from Africa as a part of the "New Asia Africa Diplomatic Strategy" and these organizations are being the main point to transfer the agricultural technology to the developing countries.
Through this, they are planning on becoming the doorway to the Asia Agricultural information and also on leading the overall Asian agricultural technology development by supporting the research development system establishment based on the information.
Also, they will establish the Asia organic agricultural technology development network for a continuous agriculture.
Through the alternative technology development, such as the fertilizers and agricultural chemicals, they are planning on reducing the production costs of the developing countries and through providing the organic agricultural products to the consumers, they are trying to strengthen the continuity of the Asian agriculture.
With the expansion of the organic production technology along with the expansion of the agricultural production system, they are providing the agricultural production technology that will benefit the consumers and the producers.
Especially, in the case of Nepal, they are transferring the food and agricultural resource preservation and usage technology for the stability of food supply.
This is to contribute to the oil resources management system establishment as a part of the national project and also to strengthen the national capability on the usage of the collection, preservation, search and use of the oil resources.
Since last year, they have been investing $210,000 for the past 3 years and they will be establishing an infrastructure, such as the collection, search and listing of the oil resources, oil resources management network establishment, expert acquisition and the research center of the seed bank.
Even right now, without the project being completed, it already produced about 2,000 pieces of national gene map completion, collection and preservation of the almost-extinct gene, about 3,000 pieces of the activation proof of the gene sources and about 10 gene experts.
In Mongolia, they are supporting the facility vegetables cultivation technology development.
This is to improve the vegetable centered diet and to improve the agricultural revenues.
The APACI Secretary-General, Cho Gyung-rae explained that "Nepal chose Korea to be their partners among many other countries for the use of the genetic seed for the genetic seed bank establishment and the management" and this is "a result of a request by Korea for a pure mutual advancement based on the advanced agricultural technology and trust on the culture."
The government is planning to prepare for the food stability in the long run through the support of the underdeveloped and the developing countries and also to bring up the agricultural area to the blue ocean of exports.
A representative of the Ministry of Agriculture said that "the support for the African underdeveloped countries, which are considered to be the treasure of resources, will enable the acquisition of the overseas resources development conditions and the long term strategies against the export market changes and the food stability."
On the other hand, the government has decided to show $350,000 to the WTO DDA Global Trust Fund to help the technology support project for the developing countries of the World Trade Organization (WTO) on the 9th.
