Nicole McCormick, Senior Analyst commented "Optus reported another strong quarter of mobile growth, adding 189,000 net additions in the September quarter. Strong demand for smartphones saw Optus register its highest quarterly net additions for postpaid users figure in two years.
However, Telstra is gaining ground in postpaid and wireless broadband thanks to more aggressive pricing. For instance, Telstra added 176,000 WBB customers in July and August. In contrast, Optus's WBB customers grew to 101,000 in the three months to September. The stage could be set for another round of price cuts.
