Imagine the work desk of our future easily taking ideas that we physically write and transfer them into a computer system. German Media Computing Group in RWTH Aachen University has designed this desk to be similar to the Pen and Tablet devices that are touch screen. However, this group went a step further by discovering ways to make a workspace friendlier when it comes to a larger space which everyone desires.

The Media Computer Group stated, "BendDesk is a multi-touch desk environment that seamlessly combines a vertical and a horizontal surface connected at a perpendicular angle with a curve to become one large interactive workspace. This workspace can be used to display any digital content like documents, photos, or videos. Multi-touch technology allows the user to interact with the entire surface using direct manipulation and multi-touch gestures. We took special care for ergonomics. Users can comfortably sit at the desk and place everyday objects on it."

The possibilities are endless when such options are literally at your fingertips. There will be no more fighting through the clutter of your work area to find necessary documents. All your documents will be directly in front of you on any part of the screen whether it is beneath your hands or eye-level. Imagine moving all the documents around and sorting them as you wish. Ever have a frustrating moment and want to throw anything away Imagine tapping the screen and watching your work disappear as it goes up in flames!

The BendDesk makes group projects easier than ever before whether the person is there using the system or remotely accessing the system with another BendDesk. This desk contains 2 projectors, 3 cameras, and IR-LEDs to support this enormous system and optimize user experience.

Targeted to a braod demographic, it is obvious that this desk will be used for both work and play. There is no doubt that this system will change the working and gaming world as we know it today. So get your fingers ready, the time to experience the BendDesk is about to begin!
