On January 19, 2011, the Information Technology Professionals' Association of Korea (IPAK) made a donation to help the residents in Yeonpyeong-do. The member of IPAK contribute some money, KRW 1280,000 to the Yeonpyeong-do fund.
Last November, North Korean artillery shelled Yeonpyeong dozens of rounds at Yeonpyeongg-ri and the surrounding area. Two marines and two civilians were killed in the shelling, with eighteen others wounded.
