It seems every year we see some kind of new breakthrough in the world of technology. Products are better than we thought they could be and companies are competing in the race of their life in an attempt to captivate the attention of the consumer.

One of the new fascinating technologies that is capturing the attention of the public in 2011 is the Motorola Xoom and so if you are looking for the next big thing in the tablet market, Xoom is here and defiantly different. The word on the net is that it is believed to be the best innovation since the iPad. The Motorola Xoom is set to launch on February 17 at a price of US$699. It will be introduced to the domestic market in South Korea sometime in April.

According to International Data Corp, the iPad accounted for 90 percent of the 4.8 million unit market in the third quarter of 2010 making the tablet market remain firmly in the hands of Apple's iPad. The new Xoom will be the first machine to run on the Honeycomb platform, the new version of Google's Android software and is sure to cause some stir in the computer industry.

On paper the Xoom looks like a sure fire winner. It outstages the iPad in all categories and even gives the iPad 2 a run for its money. Isn't it going to be exciting to see what happens once this new technology is released Will the iPad remain being the "Apple of our eye" or will the Xoom be able to take a bite out of Apple's iPad market and our wallets
