Seoul Semiconductor announced on May 12 the launch of its 120lm/W high-efficiency, SMD type LED for general purpose lighting.

The LCW100Z1 is an ultra-thin LED with dimensions of 3.5mm x 2.8mm x 1.6mm and delivers up to 7.8lm (@0.06W) at the low current of 20mA. It also delivers 14.3lm 40mA with a viewing angle of 120 degrees in cool white. The LCW100Z1 is almost more reliable due to the optimized thermal design yielding the efficiency needed for indoor and outdoor lighting.
The new LCW100Z1 product comes in three ranges of correlated color temperatures (CCT): pure white, warm white and natural white. Leading appliance manufacturers have already received samples of the LCW100Z1 and have given positive feedback. As it can immediately replace the existing Top View LED, the LCW100Z1 is expected to be widely adopted for tube-type fluorescent lamps and surface light source lamps. The LCW100Z1 is also anticipated to serve as a catalyst for expanding the LED lighting market as it allows lighting manufacturers to produce a variety of lighting devices. In some instances using fewer, higher power devices has proven too costly and not provided a homogeneous light pattern without the aid of expensive and complex optics.
The new LCW100Z1 was acclaimed by audiences at Seoul Semiconductor’s booth at the Light Fair 2009 held from May 5 to 7 at Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. The company received a large number of inquiries.
