The Samsung Medical Centre in collaboration with Index Holding celebrated today its one year anniversary at the SMC-Index premises located in Dubai Health Care City. The celebration was attended by Mr. Abdul Salam Al Madani -President of Index Holding, Dr. Ayesha Abdullah -Managing Director of the Sciences Cluster Tecom Investments, official delegation from Samsung Medical Center in Seoul, and a number of local and international physicians and specialists from the medical field.

Samsung Medical Centre in Collaboration with Index Holding was established last April by Index Holding and in cooperation with the Dubai Health Authority.

SMC-Index is a unique achievement for the healthcare sector in Dubai and the UAE as it is the first instance of its kind for the SMC brand outside South Korea. The premises boast more than 10,000 square feet at the Dubai Health Care City, with Emarati and Korean resident staff, in addition to the visiting doctors and specialists who come from South Korea on a periodic basis.

The great success achieved by SMC-Index last year reflects the investors' trust in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates and in the vision of the wise leadership of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and the continuous support of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai Minister of Finance, and President of Dubai Health Authority.

President of Index Holding, Mr. Abdul Salam Al Madani said at the ceremony "SMC-Index now has gained outstanding position in the Dubai healthcare sector, with remarkable achievements after only one year in the UAE. I would also like to thank the Dubai Health Authority and the Dubai Healthcare City as they have always been strong supporters and provide guidance to all medical investments in Dubai, and this was further cemented through their support to SMC-Index."

"I am proud that SMC-Index brand was accepted highly by the nationals and expatriates living in the UAE. The center also enjoys quite a great reputation within neighboring countries; we should also not forget the good relationships and ways of cooperation that have always been vibrant between the UAE and South Korea for so many years." Continued Al Madani

Mr. Al Madani also said "we are looking forward to expand the SMC-Index brand in the GCC and Middle East, as we aim at attracting more medical tourism to the region which pushes the economy forward and leads to the exchange of knowledge and experiences. SMC-Index provides specialized medical services in the treatment of Cancer, Cardiology, Nephrology, Urology, Gastroenterology, Women Health and Family Medicine. I would like also to announce that SMC-Index is now a specialized center in early detection of cancer. Celebrating our first anniversary, I would like to announce that we are dedicating this month for the early detection of cancer, and we are offering reduced rates on such specialized medical check-ups."

Dr. JongChul Rhee CEO of Samsung Medical Center in Seoul congratulated SMC- Index on their first year anniversary and he said in a video broadcast from South Korea "I would like to congratulate the visionary, Mr. Abdul Salam Al Madani President of Index Holding, the SMC-Index doctors, operators and staff. We are thrilled that our first presence outside Korea was in Dubai, and we can tell from the success that we have witnessed in Dubai that our plan to expand in the GCC and the Middle East has become close."

On the other hand, Dr. Han Yong Choi, President of Samsung Medical Center in Seoul said "we have a close relationship with the United Arab Emirates for a long time, and we were looking forward to debut in the Middle East for long, so we have decided to collaborate with a leading company such as Index Holding, through one of its subsidiaries, Health Management. Our vision of making Samsung Medical Centre a global medical centre has become real, thanks to the collaboration, dedication and wise management from Samsung Medical Center in Korea and Index Holding in Dubai."

The medical facilities of the Samsung Medical Center in South Korea consist of three hospitals with a capacity of 4,000 beds including 700 beds for cancer cases in addition to specialized centers for Organ Transplant, Cardiac & Vascular Treatment, Stroke and Cerebrovascular Diseases, Digestive System, Diabetes and all medical specialties. The Samsung Medical Center was founded in 1994 while the Samsung Comprehensive Cancer Centre was inaugurated in 2008.

The Samsung hospitals and medical centers are paperless and run electronically using the comprehensive Electronic Medical System which is the first of its kind in the world. This system was developed by one of Samsung's Companies specialized in IT and Programming. In addition, the Samsung Hospitals use the latest equipment, and advanced medical technologies such as PET-CT, MRI and CT scans, Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy and Tomotherapy technology, laboratories and Clinical Trial Center and many others. The outpatient's clinics receive more than 1,500,000 patients, and more than 60,000 cases are admitted to the hospital annually. With an occupancy rate reaches of 95%, the hospital includes 54 operation rooms and more than 130 beds as part of their Intensive Care Units.
