A medical doctor has warned that the 245 Japanese workers at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant are now in danger of over exhaustion that can cause high blood pressure, heart ailments, and depression. Epidemiologist Takeshi Tanigawa told the Associated Press after seeing the workers fighting off radiation for over a month now are in need of rest and are now prone to other health concerns.

"The conditions at the plant remain harsh. I am afraid that if this continues we will see a growing risk of health problems," said Dr. Tanigawa as quoted in the AP report. Some of the nuclear plant workers were citizen-volunteers and have only responded to the call of preventing a nuclear disaster.

He noted that based on general medical check-ups done on some of those at the Fukushima Daiichi plant, "they get little rest, no baths or fresh food and are under the constant threat of exposure to radiation." Fukushima is still a danger zone particularly due to the radiation emitted by the nuclear reactors, in some areas near the plant robots are now being used to take measurements.
