Year 2011 marks the 20th anniversary of Taiwan's photonics events. The Photonics Festival in Taiwan 2011, hosted by Photonics Industry & Technology Development Association (PIDA), will concurrently feature LED lighting, optics and solar in Nankang Exhibition Hall in Taipei from June 14-16. There are close to 500 participating companies and 1,500 booths.
For LED lighting, members of the LED City program from Europe, America, China, South Korea and Japan will attend to discuss LED projects in their cities and the success in lowering carbon emissions.
More than 30 VIP buyers from the UK, the US, France, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Russia, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, India, Argentina, Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico and the Philippines will hold one-on-one procurement meetings for Taiwan LED and solar products. It is expected to bring over US$1 billion in business opportunities.
In addition to the traditional exhibition, Photonics Festival in Taiwan 2011 will hold 2011 OFC Business Opportunity Forum to discuss current and future trends of optical fiber communication (OFC) in the domestic and international markets. The solar exhibitions include major cell makers from all three industrial parks in Taiwan to present the effects of industry clustering plus a demonstration of high-concentrated photovoltaics (HCPV) technology.
There will be four conferences, one of them being 2011 Taiwan Solid State Lighting, which will focus on the development of the LED industry and the supply of materials along with strategic business plans for commercializing the products. Speakers will include top managements from Lextar, Philips, Seoul Semiconductor, OSRAM, and GE.
Corresponding to the nuclear crisis from the Japan earthquake, renewable energy once again has become a hot topic and a global focus. The 5th International Conference in Solar Taiwan 2011 will begin from the biggest markets of Europe and North America, into markets in newly developed Asian countries and also cross-strait cooperation. The topics will lead to the introduction of copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS) solar modules and the future development of high-efficiency solar cells along with localizing the production of upstream materials and components.
The First International Conference in Laser Taiwan 2011 has topics including using laser and nanotechnology in medical treatments as well as the integration into commercial uses.
The global development of the optics technology and market plus a discussion on liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) will be the main focuses of The 5th International Conference in Optics Taiwan 2011.
