Foreign Minister Kim Sung-Hwan will host a dinner for members of the Honorary Consular Corps in Korea at his residence on May 3 to extend appreciation for its activities and service, and to explain the diplomatic policy direction of the Korean government.
The Honorary Consular Corps in Korea, comprised of 124 honorary consuls (general) appointed by the governments of 104 countries, carries out consular duties assigned by those governments while promoting friendly and cooperative ties with Korea in the economic and cultural sectors. Honorary consuls from countries with no resident diplomatic missions in Korea provide part of services offered by resident missions, thereby contributing to enhancing convenience (such as in visa issuance) for the Korean people.
The upcoming dinner will be attended by the honorary consuls of 47 countries, including Cho Hae-hyung, Corps Chair and Honorary Consul General of Iceland, Rhee Sung-hee, Deputy Chair and Honorary Consul of Antigua and Barbuda, and another Deputy Chair and Honorary Consul of Haiti Yoo Seung-pil.
