As of Monday, May 2, 2011, U.S. Embassy Library (currently known as the Information Resource Center, IRC) located at 10 Namyoungdong, Youngsangu, Seoul will provide enhanced public services, including renewing circulation services and expanding library public hours from 1 p.m. till 6 p.m. on weekdays.
With the launch of the new services, the IRC will be known as the American Center Korea. It will issue membership cards, and it will operate under new procedures.
The American Center will circulate books, DVDs, and magazine back issues to its members. The American Center will also offer other services, such as Internet access, DVD film watching on premises, photo-copying, vending machines with U.S. snacks and drinks, and online database searches.
Special collections kept at the American Center include "Study in the USA," "Traveling in USA," "English Teaching & Learning," and "U.S. legislative information." Anyone who wants information about the U.S. is encouraged to visit the American Center.
The American Center will continue to provide free and open access to books, periodicals, DVDs, government documents, and electronic information relating to the United States and U.S.-Korea relations. Also, it will continue its primary function of providing a wide array of up-to-date information, and responding to quick and in-depth reference inquires from Koreans about the United States. The American Center has several powerful databases to answer diverse inquires about the U.S. The U.S. Embassy cordially invites everyone to make full use of its reference services, either in person or by telephone and e-mail.
