Korea and the US discussed a wide range of issues including the Summit agenda, areas where substantive progress can be made, goals and objectives of the Summit, outcome documents, composition of participating countries and schedule for Sherpa meetings. They also exchanged opinions on how to deal with nuclear safety in the context of the Nuclear Security Summit, an issue which has emerged on the global agenda in the wake of the nuclear accident at Fukushima, Japan. The Korean side explained about the current status of preparations for the Summit including the launch of a preparation and planning team.
The two sides decided to continue consultations at the Sous-Sherpa meeting to be held in Seoul on June 27-28 and the Sherpa meeting to be held in Finland in October.
