
A private-public joint environment business delegation of the largest size ever, led by the Vice-minister of Environment Moon Jung-ho, visited Indonesia from May 10 to 13 to support domestic companies in advancing into the Indonesian market and consult with the Indonesian government on environmental cooperation. The visit is especially significant in that Aburizal Bakrie, Golkar chairman of Indonesia invited them.
During the visit, investment agreement of about 100 billion won for biomass generation projects including that of 70 billion won between a biomass and CDM project company, Eco-Frontier and PTPN of Indonesia was made.
Also, the two governments signed an MOU on jointly establishing and managing ‘Korea - Indonesia Environmental Cooperation Center' for enhancing cooperation in an ‘ecology restoration project for rivers in Jakarta' and supporting Korea's environmental companies in advancing into Indonesia. Environmental experts from Golkar of Indonesia and environmental businessmen will stay at the Korea-Indonesia Environmental Cooperation Center to provide support.
The Vice-Minister Moon Jung-ho, who led the delegation, said the visit obtained the substantial result for supporting winning a contract of environmental business as well as environmental cooperation between the two nations.
