The 4th Korea-NATO Policy Consultation will be held in Brussels, Belgium, on June 14. The top delegates of the two sides are Lee Hyun-ju, MOFAT's Ambassador for International Security Affairs, and Dirk Brengelmann, NATO's Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy. In the meeting, the two sides will discuss major issues related with international security and other global issues of common concern, including NATO's new Strategic Concept; ways to bolster cooperative partnership between Korea and NATO; the situation in regions of interest, such as Northeast Asia, Afghanistan and Libya; cyber and energy security; and international cooperation in eradicating piracy and counter-terrorism.
Based on their shared value -- contribution to international peace -- Korea and NATO have seen steady development in their cooperative ties through policy dialogue, exchanges between their officials, and participation in educational and training programs as well as in ISAF (International Security Assistance Force). The upcoming 4th Policy Consultation is expected to serve as an opportunity to further solidify Korea-NATO cooperation.
