Minnesota, USA -July 7, 2011 - Most Kindle users love the books, games, and even magazines and newspapers that they can get on their e-readers. There are even notepads, calendars, and other very simple tools available at a low price; yet, some of us eagerly wait for new tools to come out to help us even more in other parts of our lives. We do not want to lug around a laptop computer if we have our handy Kindle along. Although we, Korea IT Times, cannot guarantee that other tools will be available, there is a high possibility that a simple word processor -with more formatting possibilities than the notepad - as well as basic spreadsheets will someday be possible on the Kindle. In addition to this, the MP3 and Internet Browser may come out of the 'experimental' stages and make a great flawless addition to the Kindle tool family.

Word Processor

Digital publishing is gaining speed; yet, the formatting of books to fit devices such as the Kindle, is not friendly to the basic user. Although it could be time consuming if there is no way to attach a keyboard to the device, it would take away the problem of getting a book to fit the screen size. After all, it would be inputted using the device so there could not be room for error. Another possible perk is that it would allow for editing of documents that were already created by a computer. This way, people could edit documents on-the-go and not get too worried if they discover errors in important documents -it is easily changed, so quickly out of mind.

Spreadsheets

For those who are adamant about keeping records of every penny that is earned and spent, it only makes sense to add a spreadsheet to the Kindle; it goes everywhere I go and the case even allows for me to carry my credit cards and checkbook, so why shouldn't I be able to take record of my transactions in my Kindle instead of my checkbook

The idea of transferring this data to my computer after it is gathered makes more sense than copying it from my checkbook and hoping that I recorded everything; there is less room for error if I consistently use the Kindle to keep records. Plus, this data is less likely to be damaged -unlike a piece of paper. Basically, the Kindle has potential to be a reliable source to track people's finances; Amazon or a developer may catch on to this quickly!

Web Browser

Obviously the Kindle's web browser is in the experimental stage for a reason: it has troubles with switching back and forth from basic and advanced views. Yet, Amazon is giving every indication that it will fix this issue and add it as a Kindle tool. As much as others would find reason to complain about these issues, I appreciate that it is available; I would rather that I can use it on-the-go rather than not be able to use it at all. If you have not tried it already, give it a try!

MP3

Like most devices, audio is a must! Yet, the idea of MP3 goes beyond what I could have imagined before. It is nice that a book can be read to us, but it is even better that we can enjoy our songs on our Kindles if our iPods' batteries die. It is a good backup plan; however, I would not use it as my primary music device. The kindle is small but not small enough for when I am out on a walk; I cannot easily clip it on to my clothes!

Printing

As much as this goes against the purpose of the Kindle, Amazon may consider allowing users to print by Wi-Fi connection. It could help someone print out more documents if they do not bring enough to a meeting or other similar situations. Yet, Amazon would first need to consider the Kindle to be more of a business-like device rather than the personal device that it is now! If it makes this vision change, the possibilities are endless!
