South Koreans will be allowed to drive cars in Greece using their Korean driver's license, starting in 30th July, the National Police Agency said.

The agency said Greek transportation authorities recently decided to acknowledge driver's licenses issued by Korea, in time for the Summer Olympic Games in Athens scheduled for Aug. 13-29.

Korean residents in the country, as well as travelers and members of the cheering squad for the Olympic Games, will be able to drive cars without replacing their local licenses with international licenses or obtaining a Greek driver's license.

t takes about 800 euros, or $ 956, to get a driver's license in Greece. South Korean residents or travelers in the country will benefit from the acknowledgement of our driver's license,a police official said.

Including Greece, a total of 104 countries all over the world such as Britain, France, and Japan, have recognized Korean driver's licenses in their countries.

Other countries such as China and the United States require Korean people to replace local licenses with international ones.

Korean authorities have also allowed people from those 104 countries to drive cars with their own licenses after undergoing a simple check.
