Since 2007, KEITI has promoted a joint project with Algeria and Mozambique to make a master plan to improve environment. Through the project, diverse opportunities have been made for Korean companies to enter into foreign environmental markets based on human network and information sharing as well as environmental cooperation.
A master plan project for environmental improvement has been conducted centering on the Asian region but beginning with Tanzania in 2010, the region for environmental cooperation has been diversified to Algeria and Mozambique.
At the seminar, the preparing process of a master plan with Algeria and Mozambique will be checked and discussion will be made on establishing environmental policies and conducting cooperative projects proper to each nation. In addition, participants will visit Korea's environmental facilities such as SUDOKWON Landfill Site Management Corporation and the Korea Environment Corporation.
An official from the Ministry of Environment said African environmental market accounts for just about one percent of the global environmental market but it is expected to grow by 8.2 percent for the next ten years. Considering the fact that Africa is suffering from diverse environmental problems such as water shortage and desertification, it is the time to expand public aid fund for environment of African countries, he emphasized.
