
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is scheduled to visit Korea from August 8 through 14 for the 2011 Global Model United Nations Conference in Incheon.
During his visit, Secretary-General Ban will meet with President Lee Myung-bak, Speaker of the National Assembly Park Hee-tae, Foreign Minister Kim Sung-Hwan to exchange views on issues of mutual interest. The Secretary General's schedule in Korea also includes participation in various activities led by UN-related groups such as UN Global Compact and UN Academic Impact, a visit to his hometown (Eumsung, North Chungcheong Province), and a conversation with a group of Korea's youth.
This is Ban's first visit to his native country since he was reelected to another five-year term as UN Secretary-General in June, 2011.
