Minnesota, USA -August 30, 2011 - You have probably seen it before; friends change their relationship status from 'in a relationship' to 'single' and sometimes without even talking with their partner about the split. People are more opt to tell the world of friends their feelings rather than specifically reaching out to the one person who they should -the person with whom they are ending the relationship. The 'social networking' split and other issues are growing as we communicate more with others than our partners; couples experience jealousy, loss of trust, and sometimes frustration when they can see the partner speaking with others about possible problems in their lives instead of talking with their significant other. Yet, do not deactivate your account too quickly because most people believe that social networking helps create a 'link' to their family and friends to make their bond closer.
The downfall in relationships typically results from the feelings of 'rejection' when a partner realizes the amount of time that his or her partner is conversing with others instead of him or her. Let's face it, sometimes we get caught up in the conversations online that we forget what's around us -our loving partner who would listen to us if we gave him or her the chance. After this, the partner either silently complains or may confront us where it results in a 'battle' that eventually leads to the breakup. We have to stop and think; how often do relationships end due to social networking concerns It is probably more than we realize or want to admit.Social networking gives couples access to 'tools' that we did not have before; it is much easier to 'snoop' and cause our relationships more trouble than we could in the past. After all, the temptation to check in on our significant others is too great to resist; it is also weakening our 'trust', which puts the entire relationship in jeopardy. Without trust, there is no relationship. At this point, everything can get a little crazy and feelings can be explosive. Perhaps this is the point where people go online and change their relationship status without speaking about it first. It is a sad way to breakup, but I guess that it is better than never hearing anything at all.
On the other hand, social networking helps maintain important relationships with family and friends. No matter where we are, each person can check on what we are doing and also talk with us about anything at all whether it is on our walls or in private messages. As most people say, it is easier than a phone call or even a text; we need to reach out to too many people.
Remember that social networks can be as helpful as they are harmful; use them wisely and do not let them get between you and your current partner or any future partner.
