International Data Corporation (IDC) today announced that technology marketing expert Kathleen Schaub has joined the IDC CMO Advisory Practice as Vice President of Research. In this new role, Schaub will help to expand the execution and delivery of IDC's hugely popular CMO Advisory Service, which provides research-based guidance and marketing best practices to most of the major IT vendors.

Rich Vancil, Vice President of the Executive Advisory Group at IDC noted: "I have worked with Kathleen for many years in her capacity as a client, as a research collaborator, and as a fellow board member at industry associations. But as of today, I am most excited to work with her in this next role, as a direct colleague."

Vancil noted that Schaub has spent much of her career as a practitioner and as a consultant working on the difficult issues at the intersection of marketing and sales, a core coverage and competency area for the Executive Advisory Group at IDC. In her new role, Schaub will work in all aspects of the CMO Advisory practice, including research planning, execution, delivery, client support, and service expansion.

Kathleen Schaub is a sales-savvy marketing leader with a 25+ year career serving B2B technology companies. Kathleen has held executive marketing roles at leading technology companies, notably Sybase, where she was Vice President of Marketing Operations and earlier led product marketing and management for a $600 million Sybase business unit. Kathleen also held executive positions at Cadence Design Systems, and she served as Chief Marketing Officer for Vanstar (formerly ComputerLand). Most recently she was the founder of TrellisOne Consulting, where she has helped marketers transform marketing practices to achieve greater impact. Kathleen contributes to thought leadership through her blog as well as at industry forums. She serves on the boards of MOCCA and Dublin Partners in Education. She holds a BFA in Design from the California College of Art and an MBA from Saint Mary's College in Moraga, CA.

Vancil added that Schaub will report to Program Vice President Michael Gerard. "Michael has been our key research operations executive, working with me since the inception of the CMO Advisory in 2003, and he also leads IDC's Sales Advisory Practice. His operational skills and the unified guidance of the CMO Advisory and the Sales Advisory research agendas will be a benefit to the overall Group."
