GM Korea Company hosted the opening ceremony of the three-day 2011 GM Korea University Auto Camp today in Incheon, where the company is based. Participating in the camp are 160 students selected from universities nationwide.

The students are visiting GM Korea's Bupyeong Plant, Cheong-na Technical Center and Proving Ground, and Vehicle Engineering Center and Design Center to get a close look at the entire vehicle development and production process.

They will engage in a series of interactive activities, including special lectures on the automotive industry, vehicle brands and products. A highlight of the camp will be the opportunity for the students to build and race their own model cars.

"The unique camp provides university students the chance to acquire knowledge about the automotive industry by actively taking part in many exciting programs," said GM Korea Corporate Affairs Managing Director Jina Hwang. "GM Korea is proud to support the development of talent in various fields."

A student in his junior year who is participating in the program said, "I've always loved cars, so I am really excited about the camp. It wasn't easy to get this opportunity. I hope to learn and experience a lot through the program."

The GM Korea University Auto Camp was created in 2006 with the purpose of helping students better understand the automotive industry by visiting manufacturing sites and experiencing the vehicle development process. Over the past five years, 2,000 students from 40 universities nationwide have participated.
