October 12, KES 2011 concluded its opening day with a Gala Dinner. Adjourning to an elegant ballroom towering over Times Square in downtown Seoul's Yeoido district, guests from around the world enjoyed a five-course dinner, traditional Korean games, and exciting shows. The event was MC-ed by well-known comedian Young-cheol Kim.
The Chairman of the Korea Electronics Association, Yun Jong-yong officially began the night with an opening address, concluding with a toast to "Good Business" with special guest, Titah Sihdjati Riadhithe deliver, president of Tesena Inovindo. Attendees were treated to sumptuous meal, of shrimp and steak, and a night full of fun.
The lights dimmed as Yongin University took to the stage giving a dramatic Taekwon demonstration, high-kicking and breaking boards, to the delight of the audience. Afterwards attendees were invited onstage to show off their skill at Chagi-chagi, a traditional Korean game of kicking a shuttlecock as many consecutive times as possible.
Nam Musical Company provided a trilogy of musical excerpts from Mama Mia, Chicago, and Saturday Night Fever. Then a drawing was then held. Before concluding the evening with a final musical performance of DJ, B-boy break-dancers, and traditional Korean instruments, a grand toast was held where international VIP guests joined the Chairman of KEA in filling a vat with different wines from around the world and sharing the multi-national blend, an apt metaphor for the global mission of the Korea Electronics Show.
