KES 2011 : What Brought Chinese Companies to the 2011 Korea Electronics Show?

KES 2011, Korea, October 13 - Many companies from Taiwan and China participated in KES 2011 and promoted their products. On the second day of the event, the Korea IT times visited the scene and found out what brought Chinese and Taiwanese companies to Korea when Electronics Show is being held during the same period in all over Asia including Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Take a look at a Taiwanese company, Liket, a register manufacturing company, who released their High-precision Thin Film Resister at KES 2011 for their second participation in a row this year. The frequent visit was due to their positive expectation on the growth of Korean electronics market and business opportunity.

Ricket is in partnership with Apple, Inc. Thomas Chen, general manager of Ricket, stressed that their product at KES 2011 is essential for every electronics product and expected positive results from the meetings they had during the event. The company chose KES since participation in an exhibition is the most direct business tool that creates visible result and they have high expectation on Korean market.

Minmax is a manufacturer for DC/DC converter in small size and small quantity and AC/DC converter. Since last year at Sanghai Electronics Show where they made a partnership contracts with Korean company JNS, Minmax is planning to advanced into Korean market. They came to the event for the 2nd consecutive years and took a lesson from last year when lack of brochures in Korean frustrated many Korean companies showing interests. This year they prepared thoroughly with the help of JNS, their Korean partner. Debby Cheng, marketing manager of Minmax, showed confidence by saying that "comparing to almost no response last year, we had 50 or more of business meetings and expect a positive result." He also advised to Korean companies making inroads into overseas market that bringing explanatory materials translated in the visiting country other than in English is essential.

Hyper Top Industrial, internet line and network cable maker, came to KES not just for promotion but finding Korean distributer and OEM company. Tina Lin, their sales officer, is quoted as saying that "the show is well proceeded but we still don't have much meeting opportunities. We expect direct contact from companies with interests."

In the meantime, Chinese companies showcased in 3 small rooms divided by institutions including SZSME(Shenzhen Small & Medium-sized Enterprises), CCPIT and CEAC.

YueHua Telecommunication makes power-code, cable, wire and wiring-Harness, and in a partnerships with global companies including Samsung, LG, GE, Panasonic and etc. Participation in KES 2011 aims to promote products and hire talents in technology, R&D, sales and etc. So far, they had 40 meetings, usually with SMEs. Their overseas sales manager, Angela Wu, commented that gala dinner hosted by the event organizer was a good opportunity to talk with companies from many countries and hopely able to expand their business.  She continued by saying that Korean companies planning to penetrate in Korea should clearly understand the benefit that is different by states and strengthen the relationship with Chinese governmental agencies.

Dong Wenxian, JIYA's general director is quoted as saying that JIYA is new to KES and its main objectives to KES 2011 is to develop new buyers as participation in exhibitions plays a key role in business. They have their homepage opened for contacts by companies with interests.

Noontec Electronics manufactures accessories for Apple products including smart TV box, battery, docking, wireless headphone. Their visit to the event mainly aims to find Korean distributer, and the met with 20 to 30 companies so far. Due to the characteristics of their products, however, they have more visitors from end-users rather than for business purpose. Tony Chen of account supervisor stressed that understanding a local market is essential due to the difference in products and countries, and participation in an exhibition should be decided on the context.

Jenny Yang, project manager of TEEMA who organized Taiwanese exhibition, has commented that KES is a professional event in size or in management. These days, exhibitions on an industry is held simultaneously in all over the Asia. He continued by saying that it is already the 2nd day and many companies are still having series of business meetings. For Taiwanese or Chinese companies, it is the best venue to meet buyers in Korea.
