Sun Korea successfully completes mainframe migration by providing a Sun Fire E20K Server and consulting services KB Bank has achieved greater work efficiency and reduced costs through migrating their system to an open one Sun Microsystems Korea (http://kr.sun. com) said Feb. 21 that it has completed establishing a series of database server systems for a customer relationship management (CRM) project for KB bank (http://www. kbstar.com) in order to migrate the CRM service in an existing mainframe structure to Unix. This project migrates the existing IBM mainframe system structure into Unix at the same time as it extends the CRM database. As a result, KB Bank could establish distinctive CRM systems to fend off the competition through migration of their system to open system. In particular, KB Bank cut its Cost of Ownership (TCO) by solving the problem of additional cost for upgrading the mainframe and promoted efficiency of computer resources and ease of computer management. In fact, it was possible for KB Bank to compute 700,000 cases per day by using its former systems but now it can compute more than 6 million cases per day by using the new systems.
