Merck Korea held second Merck Millipore Asia Bioforum in Seoul co-hosting with KyungHee University, Neurodegeneration Control Center. The theme is "Frontiers in Neuroscience: from stem cells to Systems Biology". The objective is to link the revolutionary integration of different scientific fields and the convergence of biological science with other fields such as engineering, technology and mathematics. This will open doors for the future research breakthroughs and can be one of the most influential industry trends in coming years.
There were seminars about neuroscience, systems biology and stem cells at Merck Millipore Asia Bioforum 2011. For neuroscience, Dr. Haruhiko Bito from Tokyo University(Japan), Dr. Eun-Jun Kim from KAIST, Dr. Bong-Kyun Kang from Seoul National University had a seminar about the recent research. For systems biology, Dr. Tim Galitski from Institute for System Biology(USA) and Dr. Bong-Hee Lee from Gachon University of Medicine and Science had a seminar. Dr. Vi Chu from EMD Millipore had a seminar about the recent research of stem cells.
Merck Millipore Asia Bioforum was established in 2008 to provide opportunities for local and international scientists to network, learn and exchange the latest information in life science. Since then, Merck Millipore has been collaborating with distinguished research institutions and organizations to provide novel technologies to our customers. With a motto of "Advancing Life Science Together", Merck Millipore initiated the Merck Millipore Asia Bioforum by inviting world acclaimed researchers to share their newest research breakthroughs. The first Millipore Korea Asia Bioforum was held in 2009 in collaboration with Seoul National University, Department of Adult Stem Cell Research Center. The event was a huge success. Our collaboration and interactions with the scientists in Stem Cells and Epigenetics research continues to this day.
