INCHEON, KOREA --- The Incheon IT Promotion Agency (IITPA, www.iitpa.or.kr, President, Dr. Cho Sung-kap) announced that the agency has been operating the “K-Pop Korean Cultural Wave Show System which uses the “ROBONOBA Ⅱ” model from Mini Robot Co. on the lobby on the second floor of the agency building since November 22. This robot is evaluated as an excellent humanoid robot at home and abroad and has performed at Cheong Wa Dae, the presidential mansion of Korea.
In the middle of November, the robots gave a K-Pop performance by appearing on Star King, an SBS TV program. The performance combined K-Pop and a performance by the humanoid robots controlled by advanced IT technologies such as a wireless recharging technology and a group control technology. So the performance can be called, a “robot performance system, which mixes robots, dance, and music.
Five robots dance to Korean pop music and put on a performance. The agency will present the performance in the lobby three times a day from Monday to Friday. According to a spokesperson at the IITPA, this performance is the best robot performance to be exported to the world including Asia and Europe. The agency expects that this performance system will contribute to the growth of the robot industry in Incheon and help spread K-Pop at a time when the Korean cultural wave including K-Pop is being successfully globalized.
