SEOUL, KOREA --- Some 500 people attended the Ministry of Knowledge Economy’s annual 2011 Korea Technology Award ceremony held on December 8 at the Intercontinental Seoul, including Minister Hong Seok-woo as well as chairman of the Knowledge Economy committee of the National Assembly Kim Young-hwan.
A total of 34 of all commercialized products in 2010 were recognized for outstanding performance and contributions to domestic industries. Among them, ten were awarded for exceptional impact on their fields.
Bo-ryung Pharmaceutical’s new antihypertensive drug ‘Kanarb’ won the grand prize, which decreases blood pressure by more than 20% than the existing ARB medicine Losartan. Others notable innovations included SK Innovation’s high-quality lubricant base oil catalyst technology, LG Chemical’s original technology for 3D FPR production and Hyundai Motor’s Theta Turbo GDi engine.
The Korea Technology Award is Korea’s foremost ceremony that recognizes and promotes excellence and innovation in industry and technology.
