Incheon Government and IITPA Set out to Support Local Digital Media Companies

SEOUL, KOREA -- Five promising digital content companies based in Incheon have been selected by the local government and Incheon IT Promotion Agency (IIPTA) for funding and support.

The selection, which was conducted for the first time this year, included two sections of evaluation process -- document examination by content experts and company evaluation specialists, which was followed by presentation from the nominees– before selecting companies that will lead the local culture industry with excellent content, marketing strategies, as well as great potential and promotion strategies.

The companies were selected based on competence in contents development and marketing strategies with the focus on business management, technology and results of their contents products, prospect, and management philosophy of the CEO. 

According to Dr. Cho Sung-kap, president of IITPA, IITPA classified the next-generation tangible contents, etc. as the focus industry for this project, selecting companies with competence and growth potential to contribute to creating new jobs and invigorating the local culture industry. 

The selected companies were: Just Idea (CEO: Choi Jae-ik), a storytelling contents developer based on a mobile platform; MaxOn Soft (CEO: Shin In-gyeong), an online game and e-book solution developer; Xenowell (CEO: Go Hee-chang), a convergence smart contents developer; Dicon Soft (CEO: Kim Taeyeon), an animation and online game producer; and the Lab (CEO: Cho Jeong-sik), online and offline interaction contents producer. Just Idea, in particular, was chosen as the remarkable local contents company by Incheon City and won Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism on the 22th following the city’s recommendation.

All of the five ‘2011 Incheon Promising Cultural Contents Enterprises’ will not only receive 10 million won as business operation fund but also additional support for promotion of the company their content products. Furthermore, they are given various advantages related to production, overseas marketing, labor supply for cultural contents, and additional points when applying for the support project in the following year.

“We will continue to discover and support ‘promising contents enterprises’ next year, providing different aids so that the selected companies can enhance their competence in Incheon and global market alike,” said the Dr. Cho.

The selected companies and their main products will be introduced more in detail later on the newspapers, and be given the certificate and award in December at the ‘2011 Incheon Promising Cultural Contents Enterprises’ award ceremony.
