The book, edited by R.S. Ramanujan and J.A.K. Baker, covers the importance of tactical IP networks, which form a key component of the Global Information Grid (GIG), supporting users and platforms in tactical operations. A secure, efficient, and robust tactical network is critical for assured mission operations that are increasingly evolving towards a network-centric paradigm. Network-centric mission operations will rely on the capability of tactical IP networks within the GIG to provide anytime, anywhere network access and connectivity for users and platforms.
However, significant technical challenges must be addressed before such a capability can be accomplished. This book focuses on solutions to some of the key technical issues associated with tactical network environments.
