The Gyeonggi Smart Forum was held at Suwon Ramada Plaza Hotel on January 26, 2012 . The event commenced with the new year’s greetings from Choi Jun-Yeong, President of Korea Polytechnic University and chairperson of the forum. “This year will mark an enormous change in Korea with the IT revolution,” chairman Choi said. “Gyeonggi Smart Forum will strive to contribute to the national development of Korea as the leader of IT and smart era.”

The next was the R&D lecture of Lee Won-young, president of Gyeonggi Institute of Science & Technology Promotion. “The main project of GISTP this year is for technological development of Gyeonggido,” Mr. Lee said.“The institute will focus on fostering regional Industry Innovation Cluster Committee (IICC) and SW industry. Moreover, GISTP is planning on intelligent mechatronics (IMT) R&DB support program as one of the major projects, promoting IMT convergence industry through cooperative exchange among companies in the Metropolitan area and south east regions,” he added. Mr. Lee finished the lecture by asking for attention from the audience as “the Pangyo Support Center will open in March and bring in domestic IT companies.”


The 2012 business plan and last year’s annual report of Gyeonggi Smart Forum followed the lecture, while it was announced that the main project for this year’s GSF is to expand and promote, in cooperation with Korea IT Business Women’s Association. “Make Gyeonggido a Beautiful Smart World,” a public campaign that started last year. The event came to an end with member introduction and dinner.
