Seoul NSS Venue to Open to the Public

SEOUL, KOREA — The venue of the 2012 Seoul Nuclear Security Summit will be opened to the public on March 28, right after the end of the two-day meeting. Following a reception for over 50 heads of states, the COEX Convention Center will welcome curious members of the public to the venue of the historic summit that will remain open taking one extra day.

The post-event was designed to arouse nationwide interest and give a better understanding on the purpose of the summit, now just ten days away, along with its initiatives towards world peace.

All event venues including the main meeting hall, lounge, banquet hall, and meeting rooms for bilateral summits will be revealed to the public, along with a series of exhibits highlighting the high-level meeting aimed at paving the way for a more stable and peaceful world.

The exhibition hall will feature drawings by children including award-winning pieces from the International Children’s Peace Art Festival alongside a selection of winning photos from a contest celebrating the Seoul Nuclear Security Summit. Visitors are also invited to pose with some of the most renowned world leaders in a virtual group photo zone.
In the morning, university students who participated in the Model Nuclear Security Summit 2012 held in Seoul from March 2 to 4 will converge again in the actual venue for a second round. The young representatives will adopt a resolution of their own on behalf of the participating nations at a session scheduled from 10:30 to 11 a.m.

Visitors may choose either individual or guided tours. Individual visits can be made from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and a guided tour starts at 10 a.m. and continues every hour until 2 p.m. Advance reservations may be made by emailing seoulnss@mofat.go.kr before March 25.
