The Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) is inviting applications for the 3rd quarter Digital Contents Award. The areas for the award contention include six categories: 'digital imaging', 'online games,' 'educational contents', 'mobile contents', 'web contents' and 'nextgeneration contents.'
The ministry said awards would be given for each of these fields.
The entries for the award contention include not only fullydeveloped items, but also those that are at the final stages of development. The criteria for award selection, the ministry said, will be focused on marketability and creativity. Anyone wishing to apply for the awards, whose application deadline is September 6, can download an application form from the website of the Korea IT Industry Promotion Agency (KIPA; www.software.or.kr).
The ministry said that winners of the award will be announced on KIPA's website during the month of September.
Those selected as awardees in each category, will receive the Minister's Award and be eligible for assistance in their PR activities, including various displays at home and abroad, as well as diverse fringe benefits including opportunities to visit prominent IT companies overseas and participate in educational programs. In addition, bonus points will be awarded when award recipients take part in a number of contents-related operations of KIPA as well as operations financially supported by an IT industry promotion fund (the Informatization Promotion Fund).
The Digital Contents Award, held under the auspices of MIC and supervised by such institutions as KIPA, EBS and Korea Database Promotion Center, is the nation's only award arrangement administered at the national level since 2000 for digital contents, and through which MIC can support the entry of awarded software of promising companies into overseas markets.
