
SEOUL, KOREA –Excellent products of Korea’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) were exhibited at the Korea Public Procurement Expo 2012. The exposition began on April 19 at COEX in Seoul.
This event displays not only technologically excellent products and products supplied to the government but traditional Korean craftworks made by artisans and intangible cultural assets to publicize the technology and culture of Korea. The exhibition venue consisted of the Technologically Excellent Product Hall, the Traditional Cultural Product Hall, the International Business Hall and the Public Procurement Hall which introduces Korea’s public procurement system. The Technologically Excellent Product Hall has the electric and electronic booth, the office equipment booth, the construction and environment booth and the mechanical device booth.
152 companies participated in The Korea Public Procurement Expo 2012, such as Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, Woodmetal, DaeJin Kostal, Autech, Retech, Samjin Precision and Bokuk Electric Ind. This event aims at helping Korean companies make inroads into overseas markets as an international public procurement exposition. The Public Procurement Service actively supported the development of markets at home and abroad for technological excellent products and eco-friendly products of SMEs and venture start-ups.
The organizer also prepares various affiliated events such as business meetings between importers and exports by inviting foreign buyers and high-ranking foreign officials with the aim of utilizing chances to enter overseas markets increased by the Korea-U.S. FTA and so on. In particular, business meetings between participating companies and buyers from seven countries such as the U.S., Japan, Vietnam and Thailand will create more lucrative business opportunities. In addition, the event promoted business deals by holding one-to-one business meetings between suppliers and planners and purchase managers from 160 public organizers.
“The Korea Public Procurement Expo 2012 is the largest public procurement that the Public Procurement Service has been hold every year since 2000 in order to promote sales and exports of excellent supplied products which Korean SMEs and venture start-up produce,” said Choi Kyu-yun, Administrator of the Public Procurement Service. “In the future, we will help technologically excellent Korean SMEs and venture start-ups grow into small but strong companies that will be able to make a foray into overseas markets after using the domestic public procurement market as a test bed through this expo.”

“We will help technologically excellent SMEs expand their public procurement markets at home and abroad by actively supporting them,” Choi added. “We run the International Business Hall with the participation of about 30 foreign buyers and foreign public procurement officials to help Korean companies enter overseas markets,” Choi added. “This year, we prepared the event as a participatory expo which attracts the attention of visitors through customized events by visitors. We will hold one-to-one business meetings which invite planners and purchase managers by operating specialized educational programs such as an excellent product system, an MAS system and green purchases”
On the other hand, the opening ceremony of the Korea Public Procurement Expo 2012 was participated in by Kim Dong-yeon, Vice Minister of Strategy and Finance, Choi Kyu-yun, Administrator of the Public Procurement Service, Song Jong-ho, Administrator of the Small and Medium Business Administration. The Korea Public Procurement Expo 2012 was held at Seoul’s COEX from April 19-21.
