SK Telecom will operate a corporate pavilion at Yeosu Expo 2012.

SEOUL, KOREA — SK Telecom, on behalf of the SK Group, will operate a corporate pavilion at Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea. Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea, held under the theme of “The Living Ocean and Coast” from May 12 to Aug 12, is a global gathering of more than 100 countries to celebrate peace and harmony.

As the main theme of the exhibition, SK Telecom has chosen ‘WE-Cloud,’ under which it will display the future of information and communication technologies (ICT) as well as its future vision. WE-Cloud represents a world of happiness, realized through open technology shared by everyone.

 

Overview of the Corporate Pavilion

The exterior part of our corporate pavilion, created under the motif of ‘Net’ and ‘Cloud,’ demonstrates the true value of connectivity. The corporate pavilion consists of a total of 10 cells in a 3-story building.

■ First Floor: SK Telecom’s technology blended in our daily lives

- Smart Health: A biometric measuring device is installed to help visitors check their temperature, blood pressure and blood glucose in real-time and receive remote health consulting via mobile devices.

- Smart Car: A truly converged mobile service - combining the features of smartphones and automobiles - allowing visitors to use smartphones to prevent theft, control various components, and check vehicle operation information and maintenance history.

- Smart Learning: A tablet-based interactive learning platform developed to reduce educational gap and negative effects of private education.

- Smart Commerce: A future mobile commerce service providing visitors with a first-hand experience of being a buyer and a purchaser.

 

■ Second Floor: SK Telecom’s technology meets human sensitivity

Various media art works including:

- Data- Alive: Data visualization that turned massive amount of data traffic generated by diverse digital devices into meaningful information.

-Time-Alive: Wooden time capsule installed with a smartphone to allow visitors to write and store a text message that will be sent exactly a year later.

- Picture-Alive: Art work describing the coexistence of past and present can be downloaded by visitors via QR code attached to the work.

- Human-Alive: Figuration of Yeosu Marae Tunnel, built by Koreans put to forced labor during the Japanese Colonial Period, reminds the visitors of their infinite potential by looking into the curved mirror.

 

■ Third Floor: SK Telecom’s technology bringing people together

- The meaning of family: Smartphone movies made by SK Group’s employees and their families

- Beautiful Scape by movie director Lee Jun-Ik
