SEOUL, KOREA - On June 25, The 26th IT(Information Technology) Professionals Day took place on the Han River Ferry along the Hangang (Han river), taking a round-trip from Yeouido to Chamsil. The event was hosted by relevant IT organizations including IPAK(IT Professional Association), KOSA(Korea Software Industry Association), and KEA(Korea Electronics Association). Prominent names and groups from the industry joined in the 3-hour river cruise.
The attendees gathered to celebrate the anniversary of the day (June 24th,1967) when Korea's first computer ran at EPB(Economy Planning Board), and promoted the development of the ICT(Information Communication Technology).
"Korea's software industry is booming, which I appreciate immensely. We know that Korea's IT sector has been struggling for a long period, but if we IT people come together, we can overcome this difficult time." said the Vice-Minister of Knowledge Economy Yoon Sang-jik. Then, IPAK's Chairman, Cho Sung-kap began his greeting message, "I think that we are on the fringe of change, and we must learn from successful experiences in the past in order to make up for weakness in the industry. We promise that we will make efforts in an effective and systematic way in close cooperation with the cluster of URIG (university, research, industry, and government) to best ensure future success."
Congressman Kim Young-hwan showed his support by saying, "I am happy to see the current development of Korea's IT Industry. To be certain, its future is bright."
Later, achievement awards were delivered. The Ministry of Knowledge Economy sponsors the event.
