Wolfgang Slawinsk, iChairman of IT & Telecom Committee, EUCCK In the past year the European Union Chamber of Commerce in Korea together with the European Commission started activities for cooperation between Korean and European SME's, especially in the field of IT & Telecom. Furthermore the European Chamber of Commerce supported local governments to present the idea of Korea as a test bed and to promote partnerships between Korean and European companies and organizations to create a benefit for both. For the year 2006 we will continue with the started activities and intensify the cooperation for R&D in the field of Biotech, IT, Transportation, Nanotechnology, Security and Space technology, based on the 7th Framework program of the European Union. A program offering EU based companies (also Korean companies in Europe) and other participating countries R&D funding. Currently the EU and Korea are preparing a cooperation paper and supporting tools for easer participation of Korean companies and institutions within this program. The European Chamber of Commerce understand itself as a supporting organization for application preparations and fact finding missions on the European and Korean territory finding the right partner for cooperation and would welcome new Members participating in these programs. I am wishing all the readers of Korea IT Times and the Korea IT Times redaction a successful Year 2006 that this journal remains as important paper for the IT & Telecom industry and will grow well.
