Embarcadero Technologies' solution launching
A press conference to commemorate Embarcadero Technologies' (www.embarcadero.com) solution launching in Korea was held in Park Hyatt, Seoul on Jan. 11. Mr. Philip Ball, director responsible for Asia Pacific, explained that Embarcadero Technologies is an essential partner for every business that is trying to harness the explosive growth in corporate data, adding that we design and develop products that remove complexity, improve productivity, compress time frames, and increase database performance and availability.
He was optimistic about the potential of the Korean market, referring to the fact that database introduction is rising rapidly in Korea.
Bright Prospects Seen for Korea and Austria in IT Cooperation

On the occasion of the visit of Dr. Georg Serentschy, CEO of the Austrian Broadcasting and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, the Austrian Amb. Wilhelm Donko and Mrs. Yan Donko held a dinner at their residence on Jan. 24, 2006 attended by Counsellor Werner Somweber of the Embassy of Austria, EU Amb. Dorian Prinz, Wolfgang Slawinski, chairman of IT & Telecom Committee, EUCCK, and Korea IT Times president Monica Jung.
Dr. Serentschy expressed great optimism on the possibilities for bilateral collaboration in the IT field between Austria and Korea, mentioning that it is a very promising area and that Korea has developed for the first time in the world DMB (digital multimedia broadcasting) and WiBro (Wireless Broadband).
The CEO who visited Korea to see for himself the progress in the Korean ICT market, said that the Regulatory Authority's activities consists of operative management for the Telekom Control Commission and KommAustria, competence center activities for affairs in the audiovisual media and telecommunications industries, definition of standard payment rates for the right to use land for telecommunication lines, etc. As a "convergence regulator,", RTR acts as the operative arm of the Austrian Communications Authority (KommAustria) as well as the Telekom Control Commission (TKK).
Seoul Celebrates with New Year Parties
January was the month which was filled with New Year parties hosted by KCCI (The Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry, COEX on Jan. 4), the Korea Petrochemical Industry Assocation (Hotel Shilla on Jan. 5), Korea Tourism Association (Hotel Lotte on Jan. 10) and so forth to celebrate the New Year and to wish everyone a Happy New Year. In the academy circles as well, KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) held its annual new year party for its alumni on Jan. 14 at the Seoul Marriott, and the National Academy of Engineering of Korea (www.na.or.kr) also held its new year party for members plus the 73th CEO forum regarding the 2006 Korean economy at the Hotel Shilla on Jan. 23. Also, on the industry front, the Korea Venture Business Association held its new year party to exchange greetings among venture company CEO & executives including governmental officials at COEX on Jan. 16.
ZigFest Seoul 2006
The Telecommunications technology Association (TTA) (www.tta.or.kr) hosted a concert with Korea ZigBee Forum "ZigFest Seoul 2006" with a view to complementing ZigBee standard technology's and mutual convertibility verification with other companies' equipment from Jan. 24 through Jan.26.
