The 24th International Customs Day was observed with a reception held in the Imperial Palace Hotel in Seoul on Jan. 25. It was attended by various foreign diplomats, such as Hungary Amb. Istvan Torzsa, Malaysia Amb. Dato' M Santhananaban, Uzbek Amb. Vitali V. Fen present, plus commercial attaches of a number of foreign embassies. Through his welcoming speech, Commissioner Seong Yun-kap, KCS, said: "In order to strengthen Customs cooperation, the Korea Customs Service (KCS) will pursue harmonization of customs procedures with trading partners through FTAs and promote bilateral agreements on mutual administrative assistance in customs matters."
With its focus on the future, KCS is working on another 5-year master plan for Customs innovation, namely the Customs Modernization Plan or CMP 2010.
