SEOUL, KOREA —Today, Dankook University and the Korea Association for Industrial Technology Security (KAITS/www.kaits.or.kr) held an opening event for “Gyeonggi-do Industrial Security Center” at the university’s Juk-jeon campus. Both the Ministry of Knowledge Economy and Dankook have funded up to USD 1 million for the installation. For vulnerable medium-to-small enterprises around the region, the new organization will monitor security breaches, diagnose and analyze possible loopholes, and respond to any accident.

Gyeonggi-do Industrial Security Center is a stepping stone for what Gyeonggi-do has planned : forming an industrial security belt starting from the southeastern region. Built upon this opportunity, the Gyeonggi-do provincial government ambitiously seeks to converge and develop technologies for leading the industry at home, and further to the global market near future.
The first phase involves setting up systems for security education and consulting including its monitoring, and it is necessary that several other measures should follow: creating a business-friendly environment for IT firms by offering security related services and protecting regional companies that own recognizable industrial technologies in order to effectuate investment.

For the ceremony, Vice President Industry-Academic Cooperation at Dankook Univeserity Gye-Hyung Lee, Senior Executive Vice President at KAITS Chi-seok Lee, Manager at the Ministry of Knowledge Economy Won-chang Yang, Manager at Gyeonggi-go Provincial Government Gee-oh Lee, President at Industrial Security Center Prof. Chang-seop Park attended. And KAITS and SNVENTURE (Seongnam Industry Promotion Agency/www.snventure.net) are scheduled to sign a MOU with Dankook University for security support. Gyeonggi-do Industrial Security Center is going to offer cyber security programs for Dankook students.
