Kanga Assoumou Pierre, king of Grand Bassam from the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire paid a visit to Busan Port Authority (BPA) to learn about Busan Port's management and operation system as well as to tour Busan Port on February 8.
The Kingdom of Bassam, cocoa-growing western region, is about 30 km south of Abijang, the capital of the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire. With a population of 1.7 million people, the country gained independence from France in 1960 and has produced 40% of the world's total production of cocoa.
In particular, the Port of Abijang, the largest port in Cote d'Ivoire handled 600,000TEU in 2004 and major shipping companies such as Maersk Sealand, CMA CGM, Cosco call at the port.
During his visit to BPA, June Suk Choo, president of BPA briefed him on Busan port's management system and development projects drawing keen interests from those from the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire. After visit BPA, Mr. Kanga Assoumou Pierre toured Busan Port and said that he was so impressed to see the huge scale of Busan Port.
