The VK2000, an 8.8 mm super-slim phone designed and produced by the Korean company VK, won Germany's 'Red Dot Design Award 2006', which has world-class prestige. The Red Dot Design Award is one of the three major design competitions in the world, together with Germany's iF Design Award and the Industrial Design Excellence Award (IDEA) of the United States.
The VK2000 was developed for the European-type mobile telecommunication system GSM (The Global System for Mobile Communications). It has a thickness of only 8.8 mm and weighs only 48 g. The product, sold in 28 countries around the world, is said to have enjoyed much popularity since it was first introduced in the market.
